An update on how we are working with the virus.
ST ANNES HALL.
Although the Hall is now open for business, in order to comply with social distancing, numbers do have to kept to a safe level. It is therefore impractical for us to hold general meetings because our membership is so large. When we feel it is safe to go back to the Hall, we will let you know.
We have, however, booked both hall and speakers for the coming season so let us hope we are all able to meet up again soon.
For the same reason, we cannot hold an AGM. However, we are pleased to let you know that the present Committee is happy to remain in post, until the situation is resolved.
Due to the sudden death of our much loved secretary Philip Kay we are in desperate need of a person to take on the task. It is not onerous and you know we are a happy bunch on the committee so please consider stepping forward and please get in touch.
Philip was a gentle Yorkshireman with a great sense of humour and always happy to take part in our crazy Christmas carry ons. He will be greatly missed by his family, the History Society and by so many other associations. RIP Philip
Until we know when we can commence general meetings, we cannot tell how many there will be during the coming year. Only then will we be in a position to fix a subscription for next year. Please pay nothing until we notify you.
Although our accounts have not yet been examined, you will no doubt be pleased to hear that our finances remain in good health. At our year end the balance in hand was some £2,800 – around £300 higher than the previous year. Our Membership remains very much in line with last year.
The present unprecedented position in which we find ourselves has highlighted the benefit of being able to communicate easily with other people. Accordingly, if you do use email we are inviting you to send your email address to email@example.com Would you please add your name, and if possible, your membership number. With Data Protection in mind, if you do this, we will assume you give us permission to use that information, and we in turn undertake that its use will be restricted to the Society’s business, and will not be disclosed to any other party.
